Things to do: ,

Chances are if you follow football you’ll end up at Anfield sooner or later. Liverpool Football Club’s ground has a reputation that almost goes beyond footy – the Shankly Gates, adorned with the legend You’ll Never Walk Alone, seem to entwine the city and club.

Bluenoses at nearby Goodison Park may beg to differ – their is the older club after all – but Anfield seems to hold a special place in the hearts of football fans all over the world.

The ground is situated at the centre of a maze of terraced streets and is just about walkable from the city centre. Match days see plenty of public transport provision to both grounds, however.

Attending a match at home may not be easy – there are a limited number of tickets released for home games up to three weeks in advance – check online or phone 0843 170 5555 to check availability. Guided tours of Anfield are available and include entry to the museum.

Legends days see former players accompanying the tours and reminiscing about their time at the ground.
