Things to do: ,

For a short time, in the late 70s, Everton’s Goodison Park was one of the largest-capacity football grounds in the UK. It’s sort of stood still since then (talk of it moving to the Kings Dock, and then to Kirby, have stalled and evaporated in much the same way as LFC’s grandiose plans, just across the road, in Stanley Park). Still, for blues fans, this ‘Grand Old Lady’ is Mecca and, when they’re on form, the roar of 40,000 fans can be heard for miles around.

Tours of the stadium offer a fascinating peek behind the scenes of a club that’s been playing at the top flight for more than any other – and fiercely proud of its history.

The club holds stadium tours around Goodison on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 11am and 1pm – except on match days. Booking is strongly advised. To book call 0151 530 5212 between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.
