Things to do:

Water Street’s India Buildings is one of Liverpool’s most beautiful office blocks, from that time when our business district’s bullishness knew no bounds. The equivalent of anything you’d find in New York or Chicago.

The building (1924-1932) was the home of the Blue Funnel Line (plying mainly between Liverpool and China) and its elegant arcade was included in the design to honour an existing – and ancient – right of way that cut through the building’s floorplan. Could you imagine a developer doing that, these days? Us neither.
