A sleek refurb of the city’s old central post office, the MetQuarter is trying to pull itself together after a shaky start, passing through the hands of several owners and struggling to hold on to its high-fashion brands since the opening of the sprawling Liverpool One complex.
With 44 modules for shops and restaurants, there’s been a noticeable attempt to increase the number of restaurants in MetQuarter with some success: Carluccio’s and Cafe Rouge are currently on-site if all that credit-card flexing makes you hungry.
Billing itself as the city’s exclusive, design-led destination, this two-story mini mall is home to Hugo Boss, Jo Malone, Armani Exchange, Kurt Geiger and Diesel. There’s an excellent Liverpool-only design store, Made Here, selling fabulous gifts, jewellery, prints and crafts – which alone makes the MetQuarter worth a visit.
