Liverpool’s culinary map was, instantly, rebooted to cinemascope proportions when Matta’s started trading almost 30 years ago.

The store’s indefatigable owners single-handedly brought flavours of Arabic Africa, the Mediterranean, the Indian subcontinent and the Caribbean to our shores and, in doing so, launched a thousand stir fries. Their spicy, earthy smells are now a comforting staple of any stroll down Bold Street.
