Liverpool’s first ‘gastro pub’ shows no sign of slowing down – serving dependably grin-inducing plates of high quality pub food.
Actually, to call the ambitious menu on offer here ‘pub food’ is to be doing the Monro a disservice. There’s a definite flair at work in the Monro’s kitchen, serving British classics with, here and there, a creative reinvention: Blade of pork with chestnut mushrooms, Mackerel fillet with fennel and dill salad, and really great puds. Couldyou resist a black pudding sausage roll? No, us neither.
Fine cask ales, shelves gleaming with malt whiskeys, and a roaring fire in winter. Yes, as we said, the Monro’s still doing it right.
